The Electrical Power Calculation calculator is designed to determine the power of a three-phase motor based on measured voltage, current, and the power factor (cos fi) indicated on the motor's nameplate. It takes inputs for line voltage (V), electric current (A), and power factor. The calculator then provides the result for power in kilowatts (kW). It's important to note that the power factor given on the nameplate is accurate for power values close to the motor's rated power. However, when compressors are in an unloaded state, they only partially load the motor, leading to a significant decrease in the power factor (cos fi). This calculator follows the CALMS 2018 guidelines.
